Savinelli Estella Non Pareil 9614 Oom Paul Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Out of all of the discontinued series in Savinelli’s historical catalog, there are two that stand out as particularly significant for collectors. On the one hand, there’s the Estella, which featured an especially coarse and craggy rustication style and stems of unorthodox hues. On the other, there’s the Nonpareil, a high-end series featuring horn ferrules and flared ebonite stems. But there is another, lesser-known series that followed the Estella and Nonpareil: the Estella Non Pareil (the latter being separated into two words this time). As the name suggests, the series combined elements from the Estella and the Nonpareil; the Estella’s rustication and color scheme; and the Nonpareil’s shaping and ornamentation. Just like its ancestors, the Estella Nonpareil was doomed to be discontinued after a relatively brief run.
The condition is great. There’s some very minor rim darkening, but this rare beauty has been impressively preserved. Restored by Briarville.
