Frassati Sandblasted Freehand Egg Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates
Out of stock
Description
Frassati pipes are made by Joshua Sanders, an American artsian based in Texas. A dedicated Catholic, the Sanders’ Frassati moniker is an homage to Pier Giorgio Frassati, an Italian Catholic who spent his life in the service of the poor and less fortunate (and a keen pipe smoker).
You can’t beat an egg. In fact, it’s almost crazy that it took so long for pipe-makers to figure this out! The shape is organic, easy to smoke, and feels just so satisfyingly full in the hand. This particular egg from Josh Sanders’ Frassati make is certainly reminiscent of the freehand eggs made by Viggo Nielsen and the Bari workshop, but has its own distinct aesthetic thanks to a crisp, ring grain sandblast and a combination of a near-black, dark burgundy stain and a swirling tan ebonite stem.
The condition is great. There’s a little rim darkening on the pipe’s plateau rim, but it is not especially noticeable.
