PS Studio Sandblasted Squat Tomato Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Description
PS Studio pipes are designed by, and made under the direction of, Russian artisan Vladimir Grechukhin. Grechukhin himself started out as a pipe-maker in the 1970s, when he apprenticed under Alexei Fyodorov, another Russian master based in Saint Petersburg. Over the decades, Grechukhin developed his skills until he was recognized as a master in his own right. In more recent years, Grechukhin has also taken on his own apprentices including Alexander Tupitsyn. It is with these apprentices that Grechukhin makes PS Studio pipes.
It is hard to pick which of the Russian masters I like best, but I think the PS Studio workshop itself might be the most exciting place to visit when it comes to Russian pipe-making. A chance to not only see the PS Studio pipes being made, but also to watch the interactions between some of Russia’s most skilled artisans, would not be one I’d pass up lightly. As for this pipe, it’s a distinct, but still very much reserved, design, with a sandblasted, squat tomato somewhat in the Danish mold, capped by an amber-like acrylic mount and finished with a black ebonite stem.
The pipe is also unsmoked, with an original bowl coating to help ease the break-in process.
