Sandi Yuda Black Bamboo Blowfish Handmade Briar Pipe, New

Description
While artisan pipe-making has historically been associated with North America, Europe, and Japan, talented carvers from more and more countries are being brought to the fore thanks to social media. One of these countries is Indonesia, and one of these carvers is Sandi Yuda.
One of the perks of being a pipe-maker living in the topics is the ability to harvest your own bamboo. But even then, it takes a skilled pipe-maker to use it properly. Thankfully, this bamboo blowfish from Indonesia’s Sadi Yudi checks both boxes. The pipe’s blowfish bowl is perfectly proportioned, having flattened port and starboard sides and being distinctly narrow along that horizontal axis. This shaping has also married perfectly with the natural grain of the briar used, with the pipe’s flat side panels bursting with bird’s-eye patterns that transition into cross grain as they move onto other sections and cross the pipe’s rim and underside. Then there’s the black bamboo shank extension, which bends fluidly and is married neatly to the pipe’s briar and ebonite elements via channels in the latter that follow the bamboo’s nodes and grooves.
