Kaywoodie Fine Line Straight Bulldog Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates [SOLD]
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
According to my research (or, rather, to the tireless work of KB&B historians) Kaywoodie’s Fine Line series debuted in 1956, and was produced up until the mid-1970s. The idea behind them was a rugged, larger bowled pipe, finished in what Kaywoodie themselves referred to as “hairline sculptured,” though we today would probably call it “wire rusticated.” I have to say, it does look great, especially against the geometric shapings of the classic bulldog shape. The smooth rim is an excellent extra touch, too.
The condition is great. This Kaywoodie came with a batch we’ve listed recently, all by way of a dedicated Kaywoodie collector who enlisted our consignment program. There’s one or two small handling marks, and some very minor tooth chatter, but the pipe is in great shape.
