KB&B Kaywoodie Suntan Rock Ambera 7207 Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates

Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
We’ve had a small number of very rare KB&B pipes come in through our consignment program recently. This is one of them. As the four-digit shape code indicates, this is a pre-1935 Kaywoodie; from my research, I understand that the Suntan model (of which this is one example) debuted in 1928. So, the pipe could be as much as 96 years old. The stem uses Kaywoodie’s patented Drinkless four-hole stinger, and is made from imitation-amber Bakelite.
The condition is good for a nearly-century old pipe. The stamping has faded quite a bit, but is readable under close inspection. There is some finish fading on the rim, and there are a couple of strong tooth marks on the stem.
