1930s KBB Kaywoodie Drinkless 1743 Smooth Dublin Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD]

Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
We’ve had a small number of very old, rare KB&B pipes come in through our consignment program recently. This is one of them. As the four-digit shape code indicates, this is a pre-1936 Kaywoodie; the “Drinkless” four hole stinger and “Synchro-Stem” screw-in tenon would appear to narrow the time-frame this one was produced to the first half of the 1930s. It is a very traditional Dublin, one made all the nicer by a walnut stain that highlights the briar’s bird’s-eye and cross grain patterning.
The condition of the pipe is good for its age. There is some rim darkening and a few nicks around the bowl, but this won’t stop the pipe from being an excellent smoker for the next 100 years of its life.
