Kaywoodie Flame Grain Meerschaum Lined 12B Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
This particular Kaywoodie has the honor of being both a Flame Grain grade, as well as a Turkish meerschaum-inlaid pipe. While Kaywoodie made such pipes between 1936 and 1970, the cursive nomenclature on this one makes me think it might be an earlier model, such as from the late 1940s or 1950s. In any case, it’s a beautiful, compact pipe, complete with Kaywoodie’s famous Drinkless four-hole stinger.
The condition is good for its age. The meerschaum inlay is slightly chipped at the back rim, and the briar section of the front rim shows signs of a careless slip of the lighter by its previous owner, resulting in a spot of light char.
