Castello “Castello” KKKK Smooth Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked [SOLD]
Out of stock
Description
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco ‘Kino’ Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as ‘the Italian Dunhill.’
Though it lacks a shape code, this looks to be Castello’s shape “15” wide pot. It is one of the make’s classic shape, being a particularly broad, full-bodied pot, and a shank that begins tapering before the stem does. It is a smoking machine, as they say, but it is a particularly high-grade one. The grain on this 4K grade iteration is dazzling, with straight grain and bird’s-eye patterns that shine thanks to the pipe’s chestnut stain.
This Castello is also completely unsmoked, and comes with its original box and sock, as supplied via our trade-in program.
