PapaBearPipes Smooth Danish Egg, Handmade Briar Pipe, New

Description
Papa Bear Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
The ‘egg’ has been a staple of artisan pipe-making for what must be forty or fifty years now, but that doesn’t mean that it’s in any way easy to make. Emerging from Denmark in the second half of the 20th century, the egg’s organic qualities derive from the fact that it is a shape necessitating careful hand-shaping, rather than bearing the strict symmetry afforded by a metal lathe. This egg from Tim Beaumont has the right idea – it’s nicely round, has a gentle, natural curvature, and leans further into the organic theme with the addition of a horn ferrule. The bowl dances with flame grain, and a pool of bird’s-eye patterns hide on its underside. Finally, the pipe is completed by a woodland-hued ebonite stem.
