Caminetto Smooth Oom Paul Estate Briar Pipe
Out of stock
Description
Caminetto was, and is to this day, a decisive figure in the history of Italy’s pipe workshop tradition. After spending time developing their skills in the Castello workshop, Sergio Ascorti and Luigi Radice left to found their own venture, which they named, ‘Caminetto.’ Here, Ascorti and Radice were able to create their own now-classic shapes and finishes, such as the rusticated ‘Business,’ and the carved, wax-drip ‘New Dear.’
While Caminetto are famed for their distinctly Italian pipes, their style is also intimately connected to traditional English-French shapes – to which they typically add their own variations. This Caminetto, for example, is an evolution of one of Caminetto’s most classic shapes, the 151KS, and is not far from the Oom Paul, or Hungarian, designs of their European cousins. Caminetto’s version of the shape, whether the older or newer iterations, has always been slightly squarer and less rounded than its English-French counterparts, giving it a unique aesthetic. This one is dressed in a cherry red stain, which I believe was once known as the ‘Red Briar.’
The condition is excellent. The previous owner and consignor took good care of it.
