MBSD Meerschaum Deluxe Bent Rhodesian Block Meerschaum Pipe, Briar-Mortise

While some meerschaum pipes come with clamshell cases, some pipe smokers don’t find much use for them. As our Deluxe meerschaums are all fitted with an extra durable, patented Briar-Mortise system, we considered this an opportunity to offer a pipe that instead comes with a complimentary protective sleeve, and to pass the savings onto our buyers. Some of you may be familiar with my recent efforts to bring shapes typically associated with briar pipes into the world of meerschaum. First, I had some more ‘Danish’ designs carved; with this batch, I was on a little Italian kick, so I worked with my carver in Türkiye to pay homage to the great workshop makes, such as Castello, Mastro de Paja, Caminetto, Ser Jacopo, and Don Carlos. This Rhodesian is from the latter forays, which is most visibly apparent in its unconventionally high ‘bead-lines’ and gentle quarter-bend. It is also a little more compact and portable than many meerschaums, and the consequent weight of a mere 36 grams should make it a comfortable clencher.
