Vauen 3927 Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
While Vauen today is known for their distinctly modern, and even avant-garde, designs, this particular Vauen is far more traditionally-inclined. It is, after all, a relatively compact bent billiard that could well have come out of England or France in the mid-20th century. This inclination is furthered by a silvery trim and a tortoiseshell acrylic stem that invokes the amber mouthpieces of old. While the pipe’s chamber is ample, it is one of the most lightweight Vauens I’ve personally handled, and should be a comfortable clencher or hanger.
This Vauen is also completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It also comes with its original box and sleeve. As with most Vauens, it is chambered for 9mm filters as standard, but would likely accommodate an adapter of some variety if you would prefer to use it without a filter.
