Description

Chacom is one of France’s most historic and iconic makes. Its founders, the Comoy family, began their career as boxwood pipe-makers in the early 1800s, before briar had even been discovered, with Henri Comoy (of Comoy’s fame) emigrating to England in 1879 and founding the country’s first briar pipe factory. In 1922, Henri and his nephews, the Chapuis, founded the Chapuis Comoy pipe factory in Saint-Claude, France, which shortly after began producing pipes bearing the partnered families’ names – ‘Cha’ for Chapuis, and ‘Com’ for Comoy. Chacom has been the biggest name in French pipes ever since.

It’s funny how one small design change can transform a pipe completely. Take the Chacom Hexagone series: the pipes are, essentially, classic shapes, but for the faceted shanks that lend the series its name. This one is a slightly bent apple in the french style, with a six-sided shank that blends seamlessly into its round bowl and fishtail stem. That isn’t the only thing the pipe has going for it though, as it also has beautiful, dense bird’s-eye grain patterns around its bowl, a hand-cut stem, and a shank accent that appears to be boxwood. The Hexagone series is now discontinued, with this one coming from some old stock that came to us. So, it’s more or less gone – but not forgotten, judging by the emails we’ve had asking if we had any more left.

The pipe also happens to be unsmoked, with an original bowl coating to help ease the break in process. It also comes with its original box and sleeve.
