Elwood by Les Wood Rusticated Canadian Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Description
I imagine those who are familiar with the greats of English pipe-making will instantly recognize this one’s maker. But, for those requiring some extra confirmation, this pipe was made by Les Wood and Dolly Wood, otherwise known as L&JS Briars, or, simply, Ferndown. Elwood of London (as well as the simpler L. Wood) was the name adopted by Les & Dolly when making pipes for the German export market. When I asked Les why this was the case, he said that there were problems with using the Ferndown name in Germany, so this was the workaround taken.
This particular Elwood is essentially a Ferndown ‘Bark,’ sans the typical Ferndown nomenclature, In fact, if you have a Dan Pipe catalog from the 2000s handy (German importer of L&JS pipes), you’ll find that’s exactly how the finishes were advertised. I would estimate this one to be either a two- or three-star size grade. As with any other Bark, it is partially rusticated in the Ferndown signature style, with a smooth finish reserved for the pipe’s rim and underside. Completing the design are a hand cut ebonite stem, and an ornate band turned by the master silversmith himself.
The condition is near-mint. I’m struggling to find anything that would need highlighting for buyers, but please consult the photos for yourself before purchasing. I’m only human.
