Ashton XXX Pebble Grain 216 Bent Pot Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Ashton is an English pipe brand created by William Ashton Taylor, a former Dunhill pipe-maker who left Dunhill in the 1980s to make pipes under his own name. Along with other pipe-makers such as Ken Barnes and Barry Jones of James Upshall and Les Wood of Ferndown, Ashton emerged as part of a new wave of high end, hand made British pipes in the late 20th century.
Ashton’s Pebble Grain line is one of the make’s renowned sandblast finishes. It is rugged and craggy, dressed in a dark plum stain, and typically paired with a unique Ashtonite (Ashton’s proprietary equivalent to ebonite) stem. This Pebble Grain takes the form of a quarter-bent pot, and is paired with a highly distinct (though very fitting) turquoise, saddle stem. It is quite light, at 42 grams, so it will likely be a comfortable enough clencher for veteran smokers.
The condition is excellent. The finish is unblemished, the stem is free from tooth marks, and the nomenclature remains crisp.
