Vauen DeLuxe 039 Smooth Brandy Sitter Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
The DeLuxe is Vauen’s rendition of a dress finish. The stain, which Vauen refer to as ‘Anthracite,’ is not a simple black, as it may appear, but is in fact a deep, lustrous brown-grey, one that allows the striations of the grain underneath to peek through as it glistens. As a result, in person the straight grain around this one’s bowl is much more visible, and quite beautiful. The shape is a kind of brandy, though it could be called a volcano, and its base is flat enough for it to sit nicely when propped against something. The silver ring completes the design quite nicely. The white dot on its stem, by the way, or rather weißer Punkt (not to be confused with Dunhill’s White Spot), is Vauen’s identifier for its higher end lines.
This Vauen is completely unsmoked, with a factory-original bowl coating to help ease in its first smokes. It also comes with its original box and sleeve. As with most Vauen pipes, it is chambered for 9mm filters, such as Vauen’s own, or Savinelli’s balsa wood filters. Adapters can be purchased, however, which would allow the pipe to be smoked just as well without one.
