Astleys of London Smooth Canadian Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Out of stock

Description

Astleys was one of London’s most historic pipe and tobacco shops. Like many pipe tobacconists, its owners had pipes made specially to be sold under the shop’s name. Astleys pipes, however, were made by some of the premier pipe manufacturers and artisans in the UK, such as Dunhill, Charatan, Les Wood, and Ken Barnes and Barry Jones of James Upshall. As a result, Astleys pipes are prized for their quality, and as examples of the very finest British pipes.

Astleys was famous for the quality of its pipes, but even by its high standards, this pipe is quite stunning. It is a simple, traditional Canadian, with elegant proportions and a surprising lightness (32 grams!), but the pipe is elevated further by its dazzling flame grain patterns. The pipe’s stain has been masterfully applied too, emphasizing the fiery nature of the briar underneath.

The condition is excellent. I don’t see any issues that need highlighting. Perhaps I should, though, as if the pipe doesn’t sell, I’m keeping it for myself.
