Georg Jensen Handmade Sandblasted Bent Egg Estate Briar Pipe, 9mm [SOLD OUT]

Description
Georg Jensen was a Danish pipe company founded by Per Jensen Sr. in 1954. Along with Bari, Kriswill, and Stanwell, Georg Jensen was one of the preeminent makes behind the international proliferation of ‘Danish’ style pipes in the second half of the 20th century. A family business, the reins of Georg Jensen were later passed down to Jensen Sr.’s son, Per Jensen Jr., and daughter, Lis. Georg Jensen would finally close in 2001, when Per Jensen Jr. joined the Mac Baren company as its head blender.
For those who don’t know, Georg Jensen pipes can be roughly divided into two categories: their standard pipes, and their higher grade pipes. This difference is marked by the addition of one word in the nomenclature of the latter – ‘hand.’ I.e., standard Georg Jensen pipes were stamped ‘made in Denmark’ and high-grades were stamped ‘handmade in Denmark.’ This pipe is an example of the latter. It is fancier than many Georg Jensen offerings, having a sterling silver faux-spigot mount connecting the stem to the shank, as well as a fantastic, ring grain sandblast around its quintessentially Danish egg-shaped bowl.
The condition is near-immaculate. Without poking your nose into the chamber, it would be difficult to say whether or not it had been smoked. The pipe accommodates 9mm filters for those who prefer to use them.
