No Name All Briar Smooth Straight Egg Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Description
This is an interesting pipe. I haven’t been able to discover any markings on it that would indicate who made it, but the style is very old indeed. I’ve listed it as an ‘all briar’ pipe, which is what companies like Kaywoodie called their briar-stemmed pipes in the 20th century. But those pipes were two part pipes, with a briar stummel and a briar stem, joined by a tenon and mortise. This pipe, on the other hand, is one single piece of briar, that has been turned into a smokeable pipe. It’s actually a very old approach to pipe-making, dating back to at least the end of the 19th century – one reintroduced to the present by figures such as Chris Morgan and his Bones One line.
Anyway, it’s a nice pipe. It’s clearly been made by someone with a lot of skill. It has a good shape to it, and it also has a beautiful seam of bird’s-eye grain running along the shank and up around the bowl. It’s also very lightweight, so it should clench easily.
