It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously produced high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

I love the Capri Root Briar series. Nobody does rustication quite like the Italians – whether it’s Castello, Becker, or Savinelli, there is something so pleasing about the rugged, sea coral-like appearance of many Italian rusticated finishes. And yes, it feels even better than it looks, providing something eminently tactile to handle while smoking. Form-wise, the pipe is a classic pot shape, and quite a long one at that, but it isn’t heavy, meaning you could easily clench it if needs be.
