Ropp Altesse F83, Smooth Straight Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, French Estates [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Ropp is one of France’s oldest pipe brands. Founded by Eugène-Léon Ropp in the late 1800s, the company made a name for itself through the manufacture of cherry wood pipes (i.e., pipes made from the wood of the cherry tree, rather than the shape named after such pipes). In the 20th century, Ropp also began to manufacture briar pipes in France’s famous Saint Claude region.
This Altesse from Ropp is an uncommonly large and muscular billiard from the French brand, reminiscent of Dunhill’s LB shape. I imagine it would be a great workhorse. It doesn’t look bad either – very traditional, with a light brown stain that shows off plenty of bird’s-eye grain around the bowl.
