Our company also offers our Pipe Consignment services for tobacco pipe enthusiasts: If you want to thin out the herd, we sell your pipes on consignment.

We pay up to 50% of the market value for estate pipes that are in good condition. For those who choose to sell their pipes through our consignment service, we charge a flat 25% consignment fee in addition to any restoration or repair costs that may be necessary. Our team is committed to ensuring a fair and efficient process for both buyers and sellers.

MBSD Pipes is a family business that curates tobacco pipes worldwide and makes them available for purchase. We offer our customers various services with a focus on customer service. In short, we bring tobacco pipes worldwide to your front door.

No. We have opted not to have a physical presence to maintain competitive pricing and pass along savings to our customers. However, you will see us at various pipe shows and conventions each year.

MBSD Pipes’ online-only operation is in Rockmart, Georgia, where we stock, restore, and ship our pipes.

Pipe measurement can be a bit confusing since pipe shapes vary. To standardize our measurement process, we use the guidelines below:

Pipe Measurement Tools: MBSD uses plastic calipers, wooden rulers, and postal scales that measure in 0.1-ounce increments.

Measurement of Pipe Length: MBSD measures the horizontal distance from the stem’s end to the bowl’s farthest point. Length is a measurement of the distance between the front of the bowl and the smoker, and NOT a measurement of the cumulative lengths of the stem, shank, and bowl. Larger bent pipes do not have very high “Length” measurements because they are so heavily bent.

One exception: For Churchwardens, “Saxophone” Meerschaums, and similar pipe styles, MBSD measures the length from the end of the stem to the furthest opposite point (often the shank or heel of the pipe rather than the bowl). We use the measurement to provide the most accurate description of a pipe’s length. For example, “Saxophone Meerschaum” could be 17 inches long but would measure only 5 inches using the standard technique because of the pipe’s heavy bend.

Measurement of Pipe Outside Diameter: MBSD measures the bowl’s widest point perpendicular to the smoker (i.e., left-right rather than front-back).

Measurement of Pipe Bowl Height: MBSD measures from the bottom of the bowl to the highest point on the bowl, including any additional carvings (such as ornamentation on a Meerschaum pipe).

Measurement of Pipe Chamber Diameter: MBSD measures the diameter of the chamber at the very top of the bowl. Therefore, conical bowls (most Dublins, for example) are measured at their widest point. Straight, vertical bowls will occasionally flare slightly at the top of the bowl (usually <0.05 inches). Any measurements halfway down the bowl could be slightly narrower than the listed diameter.

Measurement of Pipe Chamber Depth: MBSD measures from the deepest point of the bowl to the middle of the top of the bowl (so that if one side is higher than the other, the results are not skewed). If there is a doubt about where the top of the bowl is (such as in a Dublin or similar), MBSD does its best to determine how high the tobacco can be packed.

If the tobacco, smoking pipe, or accessory you are looking for is unavailable, subscribe to our once-off alerts to be notified when it returns to stock. You must be logged into your MBSDpipes account to use this service. To create an account only takes a few minutes. Once signed in, navigate to the product page of the tobacco you’re looking for, and click the “Email Me” link to be notified when the product returns in stock. When the product is made available, we will inform customers via email in the order that they signed up for the alerts. Recall that this is a one-time warning. You must repeat the above steps to subscribe for future notifications once the product is back in stock.

Yes, we sell a combination of both 6mm and 9mm filtered pipes. You can also filter (no pun intended) your search results by selecting either “6mm” or “9mm.”

At MBSD PIPES, we have several different payment methods available. The simplest is to use the secure shopping cart and use your American Express, Discover, VISA, or MasterCard credit/debit card at the checkout screen. MBSD PIPES also has a PayPal option at the checkout screen.

However, if you do not feel comfortable giving out your billing information online, you can checkout using the “offline payment” option and mail in a check or call in with your credit card number. Please be aware that checks or other instruments will delay shipment as we will wait for your check to clear. Any check that your issuing bank returns will incur a processing fee of $40.00, above and beyond the cost of invoiced merchandise. We reserve the recourse to enforce our rights through legal process. All orders that are placed with us are subject to the laws and regulations of Georgia, USA.

As part of our checkout process, MBSD PIPES uses an electronic age and identity verification (EAIV) service that searches public records to establish that customers can purchase tobacco products legally. Before processing your order, if your legal age cannot be verified using public records, MBSD PIPES will contact you to request a picture of a government-issued photo ID to ensure that you are 21 years of age or older.

It’s important to us that we discover any flaws with a pipe before we make it available for sale. We ream each bowl, remove excess oxidation from the mouthpiece, and clean the airways. Any defects found with a pipe will be highlighted.

Do not smoke your tobacco pipe too fast — you might get what experienced pipe smokers call a “tongue bite,” a burning, irritated sensation across the top surface of your tongue. Pace yourself and puff at a leisurely pace and enjoy.

Parts of a smoking (tobacco) pipe include (1) Bowl, (2) Chamber, (3) Draught Hole, (4) Shank, (5) Mortise, (T) tenon, (7) Stem, (8) Bit (or mouthpiece), (9) Lip, and (10) Bore.

No, MBSD Pipes does not sell any smoking pipes for the use of smoking materials other than tobacco.

You can access and use your MBSDpipes.com Online Account funds by following these steps:

STEP 1: Tap the Account icon at the top right of the MBSDpipes.com website page.

STEP 2: Sign in using your email address and your password.

STEP 3: Once you finish loading the shopping cart, click on the Checkout button.

STEP 4: Once on the checkout page, verify your billing/shipping address and choose the shipping option.

STEP 5: Then look at the Payment Information options. You will see one titled My Account that will show your available funds. Select My Account and then click the Apply button. The information on the right will update to show any remaining balance due.

STEP 6: Then process the payment usually, finalizing it with your credit card or another payment option.

An “Unsmoked Pipe” is a tobacco pipe that has never been used to smoke tobacco. These pipes are typically brand new and pristine, with no visible signs of wear or discoloration.

A “Meerschaum Pipe” is a type of tobacco pipe made from a soft, white mineral called meerschaum, found primarily in Turkey. Meerschaum pipes are known for their unique, intricate designs and their ability to deliver an excellent and flavorful smoke. The mineral has a natural porous structure that absorbs some of the tobacco oils and moisture, resulting in a sweet and smooth smoking experience. Meerschaum pipes can be carved into various shapes and sizes and are often prized by collectors and smokers alike for their beauty and quality.

Worldwide Shipping

MBSD PIPES offers a variety of shipping methods to our USA and NON-USA Clients. Please review this section for answers to your shipping questions. If you have a shipping question you don’t see answered below, please use our “Contact” form to ask your question, and we’ll get back to you typically within one business day.

MBSD PIPES provides free UPS or USPS shipping options on all domestic (USA Destination) orders valued in goods starting at $75 (USD). In addition, we offer free USPS Priority to all FPO/APO/DPO-destined orders. The Free Shipping option is calculated based on the lowest cost and most efficient route for your order’s destination.

For USA destination orders over $75 (USD) that select a faster delivery method than the cheapest, we will credit the final shipment cost for the difference between the two methods.

We can get your package if you live somewhere with a postal or package delivery service. Please be advised that there are some countries and states to which we are not allowed to ship tobacco (see list below).

USA NOTE: Due to state regulations of Maine, Utah, South Dakota, and Washington, we cannot ship any pipe tobacco to those states. We can still ship pipes and accessories to all states in the USA.

WE NOW OFFER – SHIPPING WORLD SIDE!

Starting January 22, 2024, we added FLAT RATE International Shipping as a new lower-cost international shipping option. This option uses what is known as the “Simple Export” method.

With Simple Export, we ship the pipe to an American address, where they then forward the package to the destination country. They get two tracking numbers throughout the process. Because of the extra step, deliveries will be slower but cheaper. We added this service to offer a lower shipping cost than many requested.

You can still use the prior shipping service at checkout, which is faster but costs a bit more.

Why Does Shipping Cost What It Does?

The cost of shipping your package depends on several factors:

The weight of the package
How it is being shipped
How quickly do you want your delivery?

For example, Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air will be more expensive than standard shipping.

A heavier package will cost more than one of lighter weight.

Before completing an order, a variety of shipping options are available to choose from depending on the shipping destination and the items included in the order, allowing you to tailor the shipping method to your needs and budget.

We ship Monday through Saturday by 5:30 PM ET from our location in Georgia, except on those holidays recognized by our shipping carriers. If you place your order before 3:00 PM ET, it will usually ship the same day. The following map estimates how long your order will be in transit after leaving our facility via UPS Ground.

Note: It can take an additional day within the respective regions for out-of-the-way destinations.

Inside the Continental United States: UPS NEXT DAY AIR

We also offer Next Day Air (arriving by the end of the following day when ordered before 3 PM). Note that these time frames refer to business days as the carrier defines them. Therefore, a Next Day Air package ordered Wednesday morning and shipped Wednesday afternoon will be delivered the following day on Thursday, but one ordered Friday morning and shipped on Friday afternoon will be delivered on Monday.

Outside the Continental United States: UPS GROUND

We happily ship anywhere in the world through UPS and USPS (with some restrictions on tobacco, which can be found below). We charge a variable rate based on package weight and destination. Time in transit to non-US destinations usually ranges from five days to three weeks, but it can take longer due to the postal service in the destination country and time spent by your package being processed by customs. Yes, if your country has a customs tax or import duty on the ordered products. The customer is responsible for being aware of and paying for any taxes or duties that are due on their order. MBSD PIPES cannot and will not be liable for any taxes or duty or to assist you in their calculation as this is beyond our skill set.

If you refuse delivery of the package and would like a refund, the package must be sent back to MBSD PIPES at your expense if the courier or postal service assesses return fees. If you refuse to pay these return shipping fees and abandon the package, you will not be eligible for any refund.

No, MBSD PIPES will not falsify customs declarations under any circumstances. Falsification of customs declaration constitutes a felony offense under United States law, punishable by up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine (plus possible forfeiture of our business license and tobacco license in the state of Georgia). We will not do it so please don’t ask.

International Shipping Agreement

MBSD PIPES reserves the right to refuse refunds for damaged or unsalable merchandise if you refuse the package or the package is refused by customs. We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee on all other international returns where we consider the reason for the return outside the ordinary course of business.

If you refuse to pay your local duty or tax, and the carrier bills MBSDpipes.com for any unpaid charges, we will subtract this amount and any return shipping fee from your return credit once the order is back. No refunds will be given for items that are seized or abandoned at your local customs office. There will be no refund for damaged products on return orders that are marked “Refused” or “Unclaimed.” We reserve the right to charge a 10% restocking fee for any international order that is returned to us because it was refused or unclaimed. The original shipping fee is non-refundable.
